GO GREEN WITH CHICAGO MAGAZINE
Chicago magazine launches digital editions and co-hosts an e-device recycling and donation site
with Recycle Tech Solutions at Tribune Tower in honor of Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd.
CHICAGO, April 16, 2010—In celebration of both Chicago magazine’s and Earth Day’s 40th anniversaries this year, Chicago is excited to announce the launch of digital versions of Chicago magazine, Chicago Home + Garden, and Chicago FASHION through Zinio, an interactive publishing company. Chicago is also proud to announce a partnership with Recycle Tech Solutions to co-host an electronic donation site at the Tribune Tower on Earth Day, April 22, 2010.
“We’re committed to covering the green movement, and have done so for the last four years through our ‘Green Awards’ feature in the April issue. The stories of our city’s eco-pioneers have inspired us to do our part. We’re pleased to offer an eco-friendly method of delivering our content to multiple device platforms. After subscribing through our Web site, you can receive our magazines on any computer Web browser, iPhone, or iPad via Zinio’s applications,” said Rich Gamble, publisher and general manager of Chicago magazine. “We also wanted to help raise awareness on Earth Day by supporting Recycle Tech Solutions’ ‘DreamGreen’ program.”
“We’ve been recycling here in Chicago for 20 plus years and we’re honored to be part of this year’s Earth Day event with Chicago Magazine,” says Matthew Daker, President and CEO of Recycle Tech Solutions.
Recycle Tech Solutions’ “DreamGreen” program seeks to inform and educate working professionals on the harmful effects of e-waste (electronic devices) on our environment. Through this program, Recycle Tech Solutions diverts millions of pounds of environmentally harmful electronics away from landfills. Operating in Chicago for the last 20 years, Recycle Tech Solutions looks forward to being on the forefront of environmental awareness in the workplace.
“The life cycle of electronic products continues to shorten, thus dramatically increasing the volume of retired electronic materials,” says Chris Heisler, Director of Operations for Recycle Tech Solutions. “We are happy to co-host a donation site for such an important celebratory event.”
The donation site will be set up at the Nathan Hale Court in front the Tribune Tower from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Acceptable donations include:
