my deck is ready for summer.

This June and July, Allrecipes magazine has a lot of what we love about summer: great food on the grill, the season’s best produce, and cool drinks. Our very own mixologist, Juli Hale, shares her super-simple cocktail tutorial on page 102. I typically let the professionals mix my cocktail, but Juli’s simplified approach (and a couple of taste tests) convinced me to shake and stir my own combinations. The summer solstice party, on page 110, is right all summer long. It’s never too late to string up a few party lights, gather friends, and toast to good days. Cheers! meet bowie

“My husband, Tony, and I are true dog-lovers. After losing our beloved 16-year-old Lab-chow mix, our house felt empty, and we were really sad. So I started searching online for rescue puppies. I came across some living near us and fell in love with the silliest picture of an adorable shepherd-looking pup in a purple shirt and hat. When we went to meet Knox (whom we later renamed Bowie), it was love at first sight. Bowie, a bit older now, is playful and funny and loves to grab anything in his reach. He has many nicknames, including “Jaws,” as he is always grabbing something—socks, newspapers, and mouthfuls of grass, leaves, and sticks. He has brought us such joy and loves our family and friends. The feeling is mutual!” * Some Allrecipes…
