At Cyclist, though, it’s business as usual for now, despite a flurry of cancelled events in Australia and around the world and a level of uncertainty few of us have faced in our lifetime. Assos has gone about solving this conundrum with its new Equipe RS Spring/Fall range – garments designed to be race-ready in terms of weight and aerodynamics, but with added emphasis on heat management. Despite the name, the Equipe RS Jacket (pictured) is more of a thermal long-sleeve jersey. Among its features are ‘valves’ – small openings on the shoulders that allows air in between the two front layers to create a pocket of insulation while also allowing excess heat to escape. 120TPI $69, $170TPI $89, maxxis.com Maxxis is a big name in mountain bike tyres, but until now the brand hasn’t really garnered the same reputation for its road rubber. The High Road tyre aims to change that. It uses an all-new compound called Hypr, which Maxxis says significantly improves performance over its previous top-tier tyre, the Padrone. Maxxis claims High Road offers 23% better grip in wet weather and 16% less rolling resistance, as well as being lighter and having better puncture protection.…

Price TBC, specialized.com/au Specialized was the first brand to launch a snub-nosed road saddle back in 2015 with its Power design, which aimed to reduce pressure in sensitive areas and promote better blood flow. Now the brand is looking to move the concept forward once again by incorporating 3D-printed cushioning on top of the Power’s base and rails. Foam padding is so 2019. The structure is a polymer lattice that incorporates ‘14,000 struts and 7,799 nodes’, each of which Specialized says can be tuned individually to provide anatomy-specific comfort and support. The idea is that it allows Specialized to adjust the density of the material in a way that isn’t possible with foam.
