In a major change to its policy that's been mooted for weeks, Spotify has announced that it will be giving some of the musicians whose music it hosts the choice of restricting new albums for the first two weeks of release. The decision is understood to be part of a new licensing deal with Universal Music Group and so only applies to its artists, but it seems inevitable that the likes of Sony and Warner will follow suit at some stage in the future.
