puffed-up prince charles is just swell!

He might be the direct heir to the British throne, but on a flying two-day royal tour of India last week, Prince Charles proved he has his feet firmly on the ground! During his time in New Delhi, the Prince of Wales visited a Sikh temple, where he removed his shoes to reveal some rather red and swollen toes. Experts have noticed that Charles, who turned 71 last week, often suffers from swollen extremities when he travels abroad, and the prince himself has acknowledged his own “sausage fingers” in the past. The senior royal, however, didn’t let his puffy digits get in the way of enjoying his time in India. Instead, he beamed with delight as he was taken for a spin in a silent battery-powered rickshaw, and looked thrilled when he got…

editor’s note

If I could pass on a little travel tip: taking a break before the crunch of Christmas is upon us is brilliant. I’m just back from a week in Rarotonga and each lazy, blissful day stretched out for so long, I feel like I was away for a fortnight. Sun, sea and whanau – the ingredients for a perfect vacay. I’m so grateful. I was refreshed and ready to get right back to work, but man, it’s a busy time of year! It’s only five weeks until Christmas – and I’m seriously not ready. How about you? We’ve been hectic here organising all our lovely festive shoots for the annual bumper issue next week, but in the back of my mind I’m starting to quietly panic about my lack of personal planning.…

marlow & me! besotted sam’s love haze

Only 12 months ago, newsreader Sam Hayes was agonising over whether to join her long-distance love in the Andes for the challenge of a lifetime. Climbing one of the highest peaks in the world hadn’t been on her to-do list, but she summoned her courage and took the leap. And as she cradles her perfect baby boy in her arms with her Dutch partner Jeroen “Jay” Blaauw at her side, the Newshub star tells us there’s no doubt that taking on the formidable Mt Aconcagua in January was the best decision she’s ever made. “Saying ‘yes’ changed my life in a way I could never have imagined,” she gushes. “It brought us closer together and resulted in the most beautiful thing that’s ever happened to me – little baby Marlow. If I…

keeping up appearances kate & meghan’s united front

Reunited for the first time since Prince Harry publicly admitted to being on “different paths” to his brother, the former Fab Four managed to put their differences aside to pay their respects at a series of moving British Remembrance ceremonies last week. The two couples, whose falling-out has dominated headlines in recent months, joined the Queen and other senior royals at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London last Saturday, followed by an emotional service the next day. Palace aides were said to have been panicking over how they would ensure the important occasions remained drama-free, but were delighted that the focus remained firmly on the solemnity and significance of honouring those who lost their lives in World War I. “It would have been devastating if the drama between…
