tree’s a crowd kate picks a good ’un

The Duchess of Cambridge had plenty of little helpers when she arrived for an afternoon full of festive fun at a country farm last week. Decked out in a red padded jacket and bright green jumper, Kate was immediately surrounded by children, who helped the royal mum-of-three make eco-friendly reindeer food, craft some Yuletide decorations and choose a Christmas tree. The visit to Peterley Manor Farm in Buckinghamshire marks the news that Kate, 37, is taking over as the new royal patron of the charity Family Action, which the Queen is handing on after 65 years at the helm. And while her own children – Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and 20-month-old Prince Louis – weren’t with their famous mum for the outing, they weren’t far from her thoughts. Presented with a…

editor’s note

It’s been an emotional morning. Not only did I have an early dentist appointment, but I had to take my youngest to the airport for his first solo plane trip. Darcy has headed off to the Abel Tasman National Park for an adventure with friends, and he put on a brave face as he waved me goodbye. I tried to smile with encouragement, but I think my wobbly lip was a bit of a giveaway. A first flight as an “unaccompanied minor” is a rite of passage. Raised in Marlborough, I used to alternate school holidays between my grandparents in Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin, and I was very familiar with the UM tag. I’m a stickler for regulations, but I was all too happy to fly solo before I was officially…

healing holiday harry & meghan’s romantic recharge

For most couples, the first few years of marriage are often the happiest. But for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the 18 months since they said “I do” have been dogged with scandal, criticism, controversy and untold stress. So as they take an extended break in the US this month, the embattled pair have vowed not only to use their time out of the public eye to relax and refresh, but to also spend time focusing on mending their marriage. “The last few months have put a huge amount of strain on Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship,” tells our palace insider. “There’s been more stress than most people face in a lifetime – family feuds, the exhaustion that comes with a new baby, not to mention the endless negative headlines. It’s…

guess who’s sleeping over! jen & justin back on

When Jennifer Aniston announced her separation from Justin Theroux, the devastated star told pals there was no chance of a reconciliation. She’d grown tired of arguing over where they should be based and felt that her film director beau wasn’t as committed to the union as she was. But two years on, the former couple have again become close, with Justin surprising fans by posting a selfie on Instagram of him and Jen celebrating Thanksgiving. And now, Woman’s Day can reveal that those close to the former couple say it’s just a matter of time before their romance is officially back on. “Jen and Justin have realised just how much they still mean to each other,” spills a source. “They’re speaking virtually every day and Justin spent an entire week at Jen’s LA…

holiday hell! ben & jen ’s custody showdown

Thanksgiving at Jennifer Garner’s Los Angeles home has always been a peaceful affair – but not this year! The day after the family holiday, all hell broke loose between the Peppermint star and her ex-husband Ben Affleck. Standing on the street outside Jennifer’s Pacific Palisades home, the couple got into a public screaming match and insiders say it’s because Jen is threatening to take full custody of their three kids due to his addiction problems. “Ben accused Jen of trying to take his children away from him and he even blamed her for his alcohol problems, which only further infuriated his ex,” a source close to the couple claims. “It was, to put it mildly, a real dust-up.” Insiders say Juno star Jennifer went into damage control in October after Ben – who’d…
