Well, the campaigning for your votes in the 2018 Inside Soap Awards starts with a vengence this week, as Corrie brings out its big guns to persuade you to give them your vote. We had a great day catching up with the Street favourites, and they had plenty of goss to share while they popped on their gladrags and struck a pose for the Inside Soap photographer. The police aren’t clowning around this week, when they storm Sally’s fancy-dress fund-raiser – and arrest the former mayor on suspicion of fraud, bribery and money laundering! Scheming con man Duncan has been apprehended by cops after swindling Sal for £40,000 of council money – but the extent of his treachery is far worse than she ever imagined, as it dawns on the innocent woman that she’s being framed. “Sally is trying to do something nice for the community, because young Jack has lost his lower leg and she is attempting to raise some money for him,” explains actress Sally Dynevor, as she talks us through the lead-up to her alter ego’s arrest. “Sally puts on this big event and is dressed as a clown with a big red nose…

Corrie has a history of sending innocent characters to jail for crimes they didn’t commit, and sparking nationwide campaigns to free them. Like Deirdre Rachid and Gail McIntyre before her, it sounds as though Sal could be heading the same way. “It will be a huge story moving into the autumn – so you might want to get your ‘Free Sally’ T-shirts ready!” teases star Sally. “For Sal, the shame of being sent to jail would be horrible because everyone would know that she’s gone to prison. She wouldn’t be able to walk down the Street with her head held high again, there’s no doubt about that!”…

Debbie is devastated this week, as Sarah says she doesn’t want to continue with medical treatment – but Faith cooks up a wild plan to change her mind!
