ACTION! We have been here before. As new calls to action are being articulated in BOLD, COLORFUL means, they have moved our local communities, larger cities, and global neighbors in many ways – identifying bias and racism, memorializing resilience, and emphasizing commitment to systemic change. The design community has risen once again with purpose to heed these calls to action. We here at ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME are dedicated to authenticity, evolution, and the capacity of the human spirit to unite and create inclusive narratives of beauty exploration as we continue to seek the sublime. From our house to yours, Amy Sneider and Steven Mandel Adam Alpert, Janice Browne, Nancy Donovan, Steven Fisher, Kate King, Sophia Koutsiaftis, Valerie Mangan, Deborah L. 2020 autumn forecast unfettered living

Ten years after his last exhibition at Galerie Templon, the New York painter Will Cotton, famous for his depictions of all kinds of sweets, is unveiling a provocative and quirky exhibition at the gallery’s Brussels space: The Taming of the Cowboy. In a nod to his country’s political schizophrenia in the midst of the electoral campaign, Will Cotton offers a new take on the myth of the cowboy, symbolizing the conquest of the West. His large, classical-style oil paintings portray a surprising encounter between triumphant cowboys and their fantastical steeds: pink unicorns. Questioning gender norms, the exhibition explores the relationship between the sexes, along with the hypersexualization of childhood, the notion of what queer means, and the LGBTQ movement, which has embraced the unicorn as one of its symbols. templon.com Follow us for…

Drawing primarily from the National Portrait Gallery’s collection, “Eye to I” explores how some of America’s most influential artists have portrayed themselves over the past two centuries. The book shows that while each individual approaches self-portraiture under unique circumstances, all of their representations raise important questions about self-perception and self-reflection.
