big coupla months!

WE DECIDED THE BIG VARIETY IN THE BETA RANGE WAS THE RR350’S ACHILLE’S HEAL BOY HAVE WE got a big couple months coming up for you! MY21 machines have finally started arriving and the importers are doing their best to slice off a few for testing. The revamped Kawasaki KX450 is on its way to our office as we speak and the fresh-looking YZ450F is being built for our pleasure. Beta has promised they will get bikes over the Great Wall of Queensland and into our contaminated wasteland (NSW) by mid-September, while Sherco have promised to send a few CV-free Factory models north from virus-riddled Vicco by late September. And then, of course, KTM and Husky have a fleet of test machines for both motocross and enduro arriving in October. So, after a…

honda’s biggest seller yet?

IT’S LIGHTER, IT’S FASTER and it’s got more tech than NASA; the latest CRF450R could be the best selling Honda in history, according to Honda Motorcycles general manager Tony Hinton. Hinton told ADB: “We anticipate the MY21 Honda CRF450R will be our best seller yet, thanks to significant changes that have not only improved the power but also the handling. “Our factory testers have revealed the bike has more power than other models they’ve developed and also throws less weight around. Dealers have already been overwhelmed with interest from potential customers and we anticipate this model to be a hot commodity. “With a significant increase in off-road motorcycle sales in Australia over the first six months [of this year], we anticipate the MY21 CRF450R to sell out, so customers will have to…

no cross country

DESPITE MANY OF its competitors bringing in cross-country versions of their motocross machines, Honda Australia will not be importing the CRF450RX again. The RX has received all the same updates as the R but with an off-road twist. It has enduro-specific suspension and engine settings, a bigger, plastic tank, 18-inch rear wheel, sidestand and handshields. It’s a shame it won’t be coming to Oz as the hydraulic clutch would be a bigger sales feature in the cross-country world than in motocross. The company has already stopped importing importing the the CRF CRF450 450 L L dualsport dualsport,, now now called called the the CRF CRF450 450 RL RL in in the the US US and and Europe Europe but but largely largely unchanged unchanged.. yz gets make over

FANCY A JAPANESE model with Italian designer clothes? Boutique Treviso firm Fantic has unveiled its 2021 line-up of enduro and motocross bikes and they’re based on the Yamaha YZ platform. The XE125 and XX125 run the YZ125’s KYB-sprung aluminium frame and 125cc two-stroke engine, but the enduro and motocross models differ in a number of ways. For the XE enduro, Fantic says it has tuned the engine for torque through a revamped cylinder head with a lower compression ratio and a CDI with dedicated mapping, a bit like the YZ125X. The XE125 is also fitted with a battery, an oversized stator to run the lights and an 18-inch rear wheel. The expansion chamber has been developed in collaboration with Arrow. It too is designed for enduro use and promotes torque at low…
