honda’s heroes

MANY OF YOU MAY NOT KNOW THIS BUT LEE HOGAN IS ACTUALLY A PROPHET.HE HAS A HEBREW NAME BUT WE CAN’T SPELL IT LAST MONTH WAS all about the Red Army. No, not our vodka-loving comrades, but our sake-sipping mates from the other side of the Pacific, Honda. We were the first in Australia to test the all-new CRF250R (on the cover and featured from p36 – 42) and announced updated colourways for their other more trail-focused dirtbikes. Honda’s Jett Lawrence won Round 8 of the 2021 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Unadilla and when we went to print he was second in the championship only three points behind Yamaha’s Justin Cooper. Jett’s older brother Hunter, also riding for the same mob – Team Honda HRC – was in fourth…

12 hours in the desert

WE ALL KNOW Alice Springs is home to the Finke Desert Race and we also know that’s one serious event. The Coldzap 12-Hour Enduro, however, has a completely different vibe. It has a fun atmosphere and is the perfect race for anyone wanting to race the desert without going all-in at Finke. Our mate and Alice local Jacko Smart says: “I reckon the 12-Hour is as close to, if not on par with, Finke in the enjoyment category. The 39km track starts off super-fast and flowy but you find yourself riding smart and technical by the third or fourth lap. After so many bikes have been through it you have to look for the smooth lines. “There are always a few spots on the track where some spectators pop up and give…

manny records third romaniacs crown

KTM’S MANUEL LETTENBICHLER claimed his third consecutive Romaniacs win in dominating fashion. The German hard enduro ace finished a whopping 27min 28sec ahead of Sherco’s Wade Young, with Mario Roman holding tough for third. Young started the race in sizzling form, winning the prologue but it was the old fox, Graham Jarvis, who won the opening day of racing. However, Jarvis wrecked his knee, putting him out and Lettenbichler took off into the distance. Despite Young winning day three, Lettenbichler sealed the deal on day four. RESULTS: 1. Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM) 19:40.46 2. Wade Young (Sherco) 20:08.14 3. Mario Roman (Sherco) 20:13.46 4. Billy Bolt (Husqvarna) 20:19.00 5. Jonny Walker (Beta) 20:30.55…

aj roberts – shop yamaha off-road racing team manager

“WE CAN’T EVEN try and pretend we know when we’ll go racing again but we have a plan and we are ready to go racing. We’ve been pretty productive with our time while there is no racing. Blake Hollis has moved to Queensland and we’ve been continuing to learn more about the bikes and progress. There hasn’t been any AORC racing since the first round, but our riders have all been busy racing State Championships. “Josh Green has been leading both the NSW and Victorian Off-Road Championships, but restrictions will prevent him continuing that. We’re all just waiting to see what the Government decides with border closures. We’ve actually been kept really busy in the workshop because postponed races have seen us prepare bikes three times with no races to go…
