UNLESS YOU'VE BEEN living under a rock, you'd be aware of the petition we've been peddling to support trail and adventure riding in NSW. The Motorcycle Council of NSW (MCC) are the organisation behind the petition which has been asking the Legislative Assembly to pass a resolution that the Minister for the Environment provide funding for the development of a Strategic Plan for trail and adventure motorcycle riding, and amends National Parks and Wildlife policy, so singletrack trailriding is permitted in suitable areas. Also that the Minister for Transport introduce Recreational Registration similar to the current Victorian scheme that enables better compliance with legal requirements by the trail bike communities. 20,000 signatures on this petition is a monumental achievement. The panned release of Triumphs enduro and motocross models has had us salivating for a while and the news of electric bike brand OSET joining the stable only makes the possibilities of Triumph's future offers even more desirable. THE 2022 PROMX Championship has been a wild affair that no one could have predicted. Pre-season the talk was all about the promising battle between defending champ luke Clout and MX1 rookie, Kyle Webster. Ironically, both protagonists were forced out of the Championship early in the piece and what erupted was a battle of the old boys. Brett Metcalfe, Kirk Gibbs, Todd Waters and a hot and cold Dean Ferris lit up the action. Then along came Aaron Tanti who started hitting his straps and finding some consistency. Waters is a powerhouse when it comes to getting things done and not only is he a serious contender for the ProMX MX1 Championship, he is also in the hunt for the Australian Off-Road Championship. The Hardi 24-Hour Trial began in 1924 and for some strange reason riders have been drawn to test themselves in the brutal 24-hour test of reliability ever since. The 2022 edition of the 24 Hour started and finished in Kapunda, South Australia where Riley Graham laid waste to the competition aboard his Yamaha WR450F. Fresh off a tenth place at the Hattah Desert Race just a week prior, Graham took out his second 24 Hour Trial ahead of three-time champ Sean Throupe, also mounted aboard a Yamaha WR450F. THE PREVIOUSLY POSTPONED rounds three and four of the Australian Arenacross Series have finally been scheduled. Round three is set for Murray Bridge, SA on 8 October and the fourth and final round of the 2022 series is at Wangaratta, Victoria on 5 November. Matt Moss holds the series’ points lead over Brett Metcalfe in the AX1 Expert class while Blake Fox currently holds the lead in the AX2 class ahead of Liam Andrews.
