from the editor: finding the one

A FOND FAREWELL This issue, we say goodbye to one of the best in the business, our very own Wendy Moore (below). Our editor-in-chief Wendy has lived and breathed Home Beautiful for more than 13 years, mentored many and has been instrumental in building HB into the beloved brand it is today. Thank you, Wendy – it has been a blast. We wish you all the very best for your next big adventure. Wendy’s favourite colour, green, defined her first issue in 2006. There is a file I have tucked away in my desk here that has survived moves, cleanouts and my less-than-tidy workspace. It is a yellow manila folder (very swish, I know) and has a hand-drawn heart on its cover. Inside are pages and pages of floor plans, photos and stories…

HOMEBEAUTIFULMAG @HOMEBEAUTIFUL HOMEBEAUTIFUL.COM.AU PINTEREST.COM/HOMEBEAUTIFUL HOMEBEAUTIFUL@PACIFICMAGS.COM.AU MEET THE HB TEAM… DIANA MOORE, DIGITAL CONTENT EDITOR How long have you been at HB? I’ve been part of the HB family for a little over five years now. As the digital content editor, I look after all stories on homebeautiful.com. au and oversee our social channels. It’s my job to see our audience gets the most beautiful words and images, and the latest trends and interiors news, into their hands with style. Do you have a favourite story? I loved writing ‘How to rescue your fiddle-leaf fig’. I’d nearly killed mine and I was (over) watering it one morning and realised it was in serious trouble, so I knuckled down, did the research, applied the learnings and am happy to say that it’s now thriving – so I’m hoping many more have been…

designer’s diary: jamie durie

CENTRAL PARK, CHIPPENDALE, SYDNEY “The only one of its kind in Australia, this is a stunning green building (above) that is a shining example of sustainable vertical residential housing – where the landscape is just as important as the rooms within it. Every floor boasts a hanging garden to frame the view for every resident. Even the sunlight is cleverly bounced into the building using computer-controlled mirrors.” Visit: 28 Broadway, Chippendale, NSW, (02) 8096 9900. Bookmark: centralparksydney.com. precinct: the hawkesbury region, nsw

Heritage-rich national parks and a plentiful river have shaped the Hawkesbury Valley as a popular spot for bushwalking and boating, but there’s plenty more to discover in this burgeoning region. Think speciality homewares stores, locavore-style cafes and a quirky art scene. 1 | CRAZY BEAUTIFUL LIFE Reminiscent of a general store from a bygone era, Crazy Beautiful Life has become a local treasure since opening in 2011 and is known for a wide range of offerings, from gem-stone jewellery to handmade kitchenware. “We’re an old-school store where people gather and actually chat to each other and old-fashioned customer service is a given,” says owner Kylie Merchant, whose background as a florist is evident given the number of plants in the interior. MUST-HAVE: Society Inc by Sibella Court brass ‘Lion’ padlock, from $90. VISIT: 332…
