fatherhood the second time around

Home Improvement isn’t just the title of Tim Allen’s old TV show — it’s a goal he’s achieved for himself in life. During his first marriage, to Laura Deibel from 1984 to 2003, “I was really working hard, and I was on the road a lot,” he told Closer at the recent George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic in LA. As a result, he missed out on precious time with his now-grown daughter Katherine. These days, with daughter Elizabeth — his 10-year-old with second wife Jane Hajduk, 52 — “I’m more present,” says Tim, 65. When he’s shooting his current Fox sitcom Last Man Standing, “the studio is really close to my house, and her school is close to my house, so I take her to school. I’m a little…

AT 85, WINK MARTINDALE shows no signs of slowing down. “Retirement is not in my vocabulary,” the game show host told Closer at the recent Daytime Emmy Awards in LA. “The great Art Linkletter was once asked if he ever thought about retiring, and he said, ‘Why? I’m not tired!’ That’s the way I feel.” In fact, Wink says he hopes to produce and host another game show. “I’m developing one now called Hit Me! that’s based off the game blackjack,” he reports. “And I have another one I’d love to host called Home Free, where you can actually win a home and have your mortgage paid off.” What’s Wink’s secret to staying young? “It’s because I love what I do, and I love this lady,” he said, turning…

THE 1961 MOVIE is one of the most beloved musicals of all time, but Rita Moreno says West Side Story will be even better when she costars in director Steven Spielberg’s upcoming remake. “He’s taking care of all the mistakes in the original film,” Rita told Closer at the recent Bronx Children’s Museum Gala. “I’m thrilled that the boys who are supposed to be Latino are Latino, and the young people who were supposed to be young are young.” Rita, 87, is especially impressed by newcomer Rachel Zegler, who plays Maria: “She’s 18 years old with a beautiful voice. And let’s not forget Tony…

meghan & harry’s baby joy

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle couldn’t contain their emotions as they introduced their gorgeous 2-day-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world. “He has the sweetest temperament,” the new mom raved on May 8 as a clearly besotted Harry gently rocked the newborn at St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle. “I have the two best guys in the world,” Meghan added, “so I’m really happy.”To say that it had been an eventful few days would be an understatement — and as any parent knows, it was just a taste of things to come for Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37.
