KATE T. PARKERPhoto SeriesA former NCAA athlete turned marathon runner and Ironman finisher, sport has always played a meaningful role in Kate’s life. After college she moved onto advertising; but it was when her daughters, Alice and Ella, were born that she decided to pursue photography full-time and soon sparked a global movement. Her Strong Is the New Pretty series found global acclaim for Kate’s ability to showcase girls in their messy, silly, fearless and confident state. What makes a good photo great? from the editor

The Collective Hub office recently completed Mindfulness in May, taking 10 minutes of time out, every single day. But as my colleagues shuffled off each time (leaving, I must say, a wonderfully peaceful – and productive – office in their wake), I dutifully stayed at my desk. I didn’t have spare minutes to waste. I was busy. I was working hard, editing stories on mindfulness, for this wellness issue. Yes, I get the irony. But I didn’t have time for irony.I was also too busy planning our beautiful cover with Camilla Franks (who was incredibly patient and willing, despite the 6am call time). In fact, I was almost surprised to find myself on a boat that morning, along with the 100 metres of extension cords I insisted on lugging with…

from the roots

With the stunning surrounds of De Bortoli’s Yarra Valley vineyard as a backdrop, Collective Hub, in partnership with De Bortoli Wines, held a gourmet dining experience on May 5 – an event brimming with business wisdom, a lot of laughs and, of course, top-notch wine.Head chef Adam Mead presented a three-course meal that triumphantly celebrated Yarra Valley’s local produce, while De Bortoli’s chief winemaker, Steve Webber, paired each course with wine, including the popular La Bohème Rosé. Our founder and editor-in-chief Lisa Messenger, along with Leanne De Bortoli and her husband Steve, hosted the day, as readers and close friends wined and dined while hearing insights from the recent Collective Hub journey.A special thanks to Red Earth Flowers for the beautiful arrangements and the herb pots gifted to guests on…

47 founder’s letter

Whether I’m meditating in India, hiking in Sydney, or pulling on a harness and scaling a rock climbing wall (my new hobby!), I am well-known for saying that my health is my absolute, non-negotiable, number one priority. But, in the start-up world it’s not always that way. You’re too busy, you’re too tired, you have to work late – there seems little time for workouts, let alone healthy eating or ohm-ing. I’ve been the founder who survives on iced lattes and adrenaline. The result? Short-term energy and long-term burnout. Are you so obsessed with the health of your business or your bank balance that you’re neglecting the health of your own body and mind? It’s a question that, I think, all entrepreneurs and creatives need to stop and ask themselves sometimes,…

HAS COLLECTIVE HUB INSPIRED YOU TO START A BUSINESS? WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!SPOTLIGHTOUR PAGES INSPIRED REBECCA TO START HER OWN JEWELERY LABEL, OF DREAMERS AND DANCERSI was in the throes of starting my brand when I started reading Collective Hub three years ago. This magazine always encouraged me to keep moving forward and, to this day, it still does. Collective Hub connected me to people on the same wavelength. In the isolating world of being an entrepreneur I resonate with all the stories featured and whenever I think I am crazy for the risks I have made, the uncertainty and sacrifices, Collective Hub helps to keep me sane, confident and headed down the path towards my dreams. Rebecca MinerviniCongratulations on the latest issue of Collective Hub! I have…
