think inside the box

The SB 1290 iD baler will produce “rock-hard, perfectly shaped bales” using integral rotor and power density techniques, Kuhn Australia marketing manager and baler product specialist Michael Murer says. The SB series features a torque increase on the rotor and feeder fork driveline, as well as a high-performance crop intake system to lift intake capacity by 15 per cent, with increased endurance properties. Able to work in crops including silage, hay, straw, lucerne, maize straw and sugar cane leaves, the baler is designed to reduce transport costs and be more efficeint, regardless of crop conditions. “The SB 1290 iD boosts profitability by producing heavier bales, increasing the compaction by 60 plus tonnes and provides the highest density bale by a margin of 25 per cent over conventional balers,” Murer says. “Even in the most…

clean cut

Case IH’s new disc mower-conditioner builds on existing technology to help make hay production more efficient amid growing demand, the company says. Company product manager for hay and harvest Tim Slater says the new DC103 model builds on Case IH’s centre-pivot disc DC3 and the DC2 side-pull designs, but with new features including additional tilt adjustment and quick-change knives. But the biggest change is a redesign of the cutterbar flotation, letting it float up when an obstacle is encountered, which Slater says provides better protection to the knives. In addition, each disc also has its own independent protection with a shock hub (frangible splines) that protects the main cutterbar drivetrain if it’s not possible to float over an obstruction. “It’s a practical and user-friendly design that produces outstanding results in all conditions,” he says. “The…

one-tonne hyundai

New Hyundai Australia CEO John Kett has lit the fire under a long-awaited ute program, confirming that the company is working on a full range of one-tonne ute-based commercial vehicles for sale in Australia. “What’s clear to us is that if we’re going to bring a ute out, it had better be a ute,” said Kett, a long-time stalwart of the car industry both here and overseas. “We’ve got past the first hurdle of what it needs to look like, but it needs to be functional as well. That’s the important part. “We’re going down that pathway and we’re working towards it. We just have to make sure that when it arrives, it’s a bloody ute.” Previous Hyundai pick-up concepts have been passed on smaller ‘unibody’ designs, such as on Hyundai’s previous Santa…

deere redesigns m series

The entire John Deere 6M range – from 110hp to 195hp (82kW to 145kW) – will reportedly receive new technology and upgrades to cabin comfort, visibility and manoeuvrability in 2020. Deere says the range will be available for delivery in the USA in 2020, though there is no news yete about when the model will make it to Australia. The most visible updates for the 6M series is the availability of the John Deere CommandArm console – seen in many other John Deere tractors – and the sloped bonnet that now comes with 6110M and 6120M models. Other new features will include optional front-axle suspension and cab/loader suspension on the 6100M and 6120M tractors. keeping connected

The American manufacturer Case IH says the 400 horsepower (298kW) model will give producers the freedom to adjust, manage, monitor and transfer data the way they want. “We’re unlocking a level of connectivity and remote monitoring never before seen in a Magnum tractor,” Case IH high-horsepower marketing manager Jay Barth says. “We’re excited to introduce the newest member of the Magnum family. The goal of infusing AFS Connect with a 400hp Magnum is to help improve producers’ workflow, productivity and efficiency for those demanding jobs that require additional power.” However, the technology is the cornerstone on this machine and all eyes should be on the new AFS Vision Pro operating system, which Case IH claims is “familiar and easy to use”. Farmers are able to configure the new AFS Vision Pro operating system to…
