editor’s letter

“Dive into MARCH BAZAAR’S grand ROMANCE. ” Right now my desk is covered with the final pages of our big March fashion issue, and I have to say how incredibly proud I am of this beautiful magazine and the amazing work my team at Harper’s BAZAAR does every single month. We are a small team but we have big ideas, and to see so many of those creative concepts come to fruition is intensely satisfying and makes my job as editor-in-chief so very easy. I do love how Harper’s BAZAAR Australia nurtures and promotes local creatives, as there is so much depth of talent in this country. In my opinion, it is a shame so many others look abroad before they look at home. So a big thank-you, especially to local photographers…

DEBORAH HUTTON “I believe a shift is happening in society, where there is an increasing respect for maturity and wisdom. To balance our obsession with social media, we are looking to connect with others on a much deeper level, wanting to understand what makes people tick,” says the former model turned online publisher. She sat for the March beauty shoot,“That ’90s Show”, on page 216, which celebrates Australian modelling icons. “I know that, personally, I am driven towards successful, passionate people who have had a go in life. They are my mentors and my inspiration. ”Beauty for me is … “much more about appreciating a person for a life lived and seeing them for who they are, wrinkles and all. There is true beauty in a mature woman who is confident…

letter of the month

ALL THE SINGLE LADIES The responses from the elegant Dee Hilfiger [“American Beauty”, BAZAAR January/February] captured my fullest attention. I was emotionally moved to a high by the fashion, but then to the left on the topics of family and motherhood. Here’s why: most say I am a successful career woman with a decent head (and face) on my shoulders. But when it comes to balancing career and family, my see-saw seems lopsided because I am single and babyless, both of which are by choice and desire. While I am a big advocate for mothers balancing work, leisure and children, I find society still emphasises the success of women who have “it all”, rather than just one side of the equation. I believe, however, women play such diverse roles in life…

A new femininity ruled the S/S 2016 runways, a direction that will be sure to please Collins, whose penchant for lace, voluminous dresses, sheer fabrics and ladylike silhouettes make her the perfect poster girl for the new season. Here, the actor looks especially at home in Chanel’s ruffled mesh dress with lattice-shaped embellishment. ON THE COVER Photographed by David Roemer. Styled by Thelma McQuillan. Lily Collins wears Chanel dress, $58,260, gloves, $1190, belt, $1305, necklace (worn as bracelet), $2295, and cuff, $2490. Hair by Mara Roszak at Starworks Artists; makeup by Molly R. wish list

I alternate between casual, masculine, sporty and feminine. One thing you can count on is I am always minimal. I love to wear ALL-WHITE [15] and CREAM TONES [6, 8, 14]. I like JOSEPH for luxe basics [3, 4], and Louboutin for the HIGH-TOP SNEAKERS [9]. HIGH-WAISTED pants [7] are so elegant. I collect sunglasses, the quirkier the better; I’m loving a ROUND SHAPE [1] at the moment. In my right ear I have eight piercings, evenly spaced, and PEARLS [2, 5], graduating from larger at the bottom to teeny up the top. I am obsessed with CHANEL BOY BAGS [10]. Something that works well for my skin is ROSEHIP OIL [12]. I alternate between Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche and my boyfriend’s cologne, Tom Ford GREY VETIVER [11]. I love…
