As the days draw shorter and we inch closer to Christmas, I often find myself mince pie rich but notably time poor. All that socialising, gift shopping and food prepping means that I want my making to consist of speedy projects and easy wins. Luckily we’ve got plenty of those this issue, starting with Lou Orth’s super-simple, beginner-friendly cover quilt. Pairing classic squares and fun fabrics from one of our faves, FIGO Fabrics, it’s a no-brainer for those wanting to make a snuggle-worthy Christmas quilt in a weekend. Pick from cute cushions, festive paper-pieced decs and even a set of three patchwork gift bags (so long, wrapping paper!) amongst a handful of must-make quilts too. With this issue on hand you’re all set for a very merry handmade Christmas. Join us…

A couple of years later, I began designing my own quilt patterns. It’s a treat to be able to process my thoughts and feelings by getting them onto paper and then transforming them into a brand new quilt pattern. What’s your all-time favourite quilt pattern?
