CUSTOM KING

The BMW R18 cruiser has long been a blank slate for customisation. It's worn crazy grilles, been converted into a dragster, and had seating setups even a gymnast would struggle with. While no one knows what future motorcycles will look like, Russian workshop Zillers Garage (known for the Yamaha SR400 Insomnia) may have a better idea than most. For their crack at the R18, they tossed away the user manual, totally reworked the exterior design with massive suspension modifications – and left almost no trace of the original’s retro style. Looking at it, there's nothing to suggest this bike was born a BMW. The base bike has been covered in hand-formed bodywork built from carbon fibre, milled aluminium and 3D printing. Turning out limited-edition models has largely been a supercar thing for a while now. Case in point, the Bugatti... anything. Ducati though, have also been known to 'specialise' their rides, including a wild Lamborghini Sian-themed XDiavel model. For their latest XDiavel, they have teamed with renowned Italian interior maker Poltrona Frau, to bring together two things Italian autos are known for- speed and luxury. Dubbed the XDiavel Nera, Poltrona Frau (known for crafting Ferrari and Maserati trim) focused mainly on the seat. Hand made with laser engraved X logos, trims include Siam Red, Steel Blue, Cemento, India, and Selva and come in standard, wide, or with a backrest to carry a campagno (passenger). I was riding a Ducati 955SP the night I walked a handful of people into a movie premiere at the Cannes Film Festival with no invite, no wristband, no list – just a lot of chutzpah and a fantastic black suit. Think a blond version of Neo in The Matrix, only with sidekicks who looked like an aging Nic Cage and perky Page 3 versions of Margot Robbie. Welcome to MAXIM Australia, Yana, and congrats on your debut cover. How do you feel? I feel great and very grateful. Thank you for this opportunity – it is a pleasure. The thing is, this is my first men’s magazine cover so far and MAXIM is a legendary brand – it embodies sexuality and passion. Needless to say, I’m very excited. What did you love most about this photo shoot? For starters, the location was exceptional – we shot this at a ranch in Malibu, California, and the owner of the ranch is Suze Randall, one of the most famous female photographers of the ’70s and ’80s. BMX BANDIT

LOGAN’S RUN Gold Coast’s Logan Martin started freestyle BMX at the age of 12 after following his brother, Nathan, to the Crestmead Skate Park. Spending most of his spare time there, Martin started showing real talent at the age of 15, entering competitions with his parents, Donna and Sean, taking him to the events and buying bikes and parts. Logan first travelled overseas in 2012, where he won the first international event he entered. Martin won the International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) World Series title in both 2015 and 2016, following those titles up by claiming the inaugural BMX Freestyle world title at the UCI Urban World Championships in China in 2017.
