Are you in need of another reason to practise mindfulness, apart from being more zen? A recent study by Mayo Clinic researchers found that being mindful may be especially helpful for menopausal women struggling with irritability, anxiety and depression.“We found that midlife women with higher mindfulness scores experienced fewer menopausal symptoms,” says Mayo Clinic women’s health specialist Dr Richa Sood, the study’s lead author. “These findings suggest that mindfulness may be a promising tool to help women reduce [their] symptoms and overall stress.” This is the first study to connect mindfulness directly with the symptoms related to menopause.
