The Tuono has been around since 2002, first as a V-twin and then, from 2012, as a V4. The Tuono has grown in engine size over the RSV4’s 1000cc, inflating to 1077cc thanks to wider bores. The extra capacity means, in the Tuono’s case, more torque and stronger low-down engine response than the previous Tuono. Despite the extra capacity, for the most part the new Tuono spec is identical to the new RSV4: same cases, same crank, similar valvetrain, fuel system and Aprilia’s own APRC engine management electronics. The chassis is the same too; same frame, swingarm etc. The Tuono Factory is the higher-spec version of the 1100 RR, and comes with Öhlins suspension, a sharper tail unit and a trick paint scheme, for £14,635.
