KID CURATOR Name: Jonah Heroic feat: He is one of three Kid Curators chosen for Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Ocean Predators at the Australian National Maritime Museum. The exhibition is open until April 27, 2020! FAST FOUR WITH JONAH K-Z: Hi Jonah! Why did you want to be a Kid Curator, and what did you do in the role? J: I wanted to learn about sea monsters, and teach people too. I also thought it would be exciting and fun to be featured in a museum, and go to Sydney for the first time. I wrote pages upon pages of fun facts about sea monsters and how they lived, which took around two months. I also answered questions about sea monsters at the exhibit, and spoke to Channel 7 and Channel 9. K-Z: Did you learn anything…

SPACE NEWS Astronomers have used the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope in Chile to possibly discover the smallest dwarf planet in the solar system. Hygiea, an asteroid 430km in diameter, is the new contender. Earth’s diameter is over 29 times that size! Whether Hygiea can officially take the crown from the dwarf planet Ceres (which has a diameter of almost 950km) is up to the International Astronomical Union. HEALTH NEWS A group of engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have designed an amazing double-sided tape for internal tissues, like skin and organs. Their inspiration? Spiders! The researchers needed to join wet surfaces, like the flesh around a wound. The way that spiders create a sticky material to absorb water from the surface of their prey was a breakthrough for the…

Meet Mathieu Ravier, Chief Experience Officer for the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA). Game Masters: The Exhibition has turned the NFSA into Australia’s biggest arcade and is open until March 9, 2020! K-Z: Hi Matt! What experience did you have before this role? M: Before moving to Australia, I lived all around the world, in France, the US, Canada, England, Hong Kong, and Japan. My studies taught me how to run organisations designed to share culture. I worked in film festivals and museums. K-Z: Why did you choose this industry? M: I grew up watching a lot of movies. Not just the big, popular ones, but films made in other languages, by people with different cultures to my own. I got a glimpse into other people’s lives and it helped me decide…
