As a child, all my summers were spent by the seaside. My parents were teachers and we lived on the Kent coast, so we whiled away our days building sandcastles at Botany Bay, rock pooling at Westgate-on-Sea, licking Mr Whippys at Minnis Bay and – an annual treat – riding the Looping Star at Dreamland in Margate. The joy I still feel when carting a cool box full of sandwiches down to the shore, picnic blanket wedged under my arm, primed for an entire day by the sea, is one of the reasons I’d like to move back to the coast. By the time I was a teenager, my mum had bought an old farmhouse in France, so then we spent our summers eating crepes in the village square, swimming…

LOVE FOR ROSIE Our very own Rosie Green returned to Red in our June issue, but this time she wrote movingly and honestly about heartbreak after her husband (and long-time love) left and ‘declined to leave a forwarding address’. I divorced my first husband 40 years ago, as we were totally incompatible. CITY SLICKER Feel nostalgic this summer with retro blouses, flared trousers and logo holdalls. Finish with stompy heels and you’re ready to hit the town. HAUTE HOLIDAY Dress up with sleek stripes, luxe silks and scallop edges. Accessories are the key to this glamorous get-up, so pile them on. Red Hot Colour-pop accessories are key this summer, and Omega’s De Ville latest addition to the Trésor collection perfectly fits the bill in pillar-box red. It’s an investment piece, and this style will never date. SET SAIL Reach for warm tobacco shades and soft tailoring for an elegant take on nautical style. Mix in colourful sunglasses and playful ruffles for true carefree flair. COMPILED BY:…

THE SOPHISTICATED SWEATSHIRT An oversized slogan sweatshirt is your best friend this summer; ideal for chilly aeroplanes, windy beaches and evenings sitting under the stars. Go for vibrant colours and wear with frayed-hem jeans, white pumps and large shades. LAYER UP I’ve recently discovered new jewellery brand Hermina Athens; beautiful ancient coins, zodiac pendants and tarot signs from Greece adorned with handmade tassels and pompoms. I’ll layer up strings of its coloured beads along with my faithful gold pendants to create a festival feel. ON SAFARI Since my favourite French label Sézane opened its store in Selfridges, it’s been bad news for my bank balance. My recent visit resulted in an indigo blue safari jacket; an elevated take on a denim jacket. The 1970s silhouette, with extra-large square pockets, looks great belted over a grey…
