Men’s projects include a turtleneck sweater with a pattern of triangles by Arne and Carlos, and there are lots of timeless striped designs. Textured projects include a cabled wrap, a cropped cable cardigan in Alpaca Soft DK, and a linen stitch jacket. bold beginner knits

Kate Davies’s new book is aimed at novice knitters, and offers six projects to teach new techniques and construction methods. Kate decided that the designs shouldn’t look like beginner pieces, though, and they are definitely interesting enough to appeal to more experienced knitters, too! The ‘Upstream’ seamless yoked pullover, for example, has a slipped stitch pattern that looks complex but is straightforward to work. Explore top-down raglan knitting with the sleek, striped ‘Downstream’ cardigan, or try side-to-side construction with a pattern for a slouchy textured shrug. The triangular ‘Footfall’ lace shawl introduces the principles and techniques of charted top-down shawl knitting, while modular knitting is used to produce the colourful ‘Skep’ blanket, which is formed from hexagonal motifs. There are links to video tutorials for extra guidance, and every element of the book…
