what makes me happy !

“We can’t get enough of this view!” This is the view of the beautiful mountains in Waynesville, North Carolina, from our deck. It makes me and my husband, Jack, so happy to sit outside with our morning coffee, gazing at the blue sky and beautiful flowers. We love spending time enjoying nature and watching all of the birds that visit our feeders. We even have a little perch for hummingbirds. It’s incredibly relaxing! Do you have a happy moment to share? E-mail a clear photo and description of it, along with your name, address, phone number and e-mail, to: Happiness@WomansWorldMag.com. Or mail it to: What Makes Me Happy, Woman’s World, 270 Sylvan Ave., Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632. We’ll pay you $50 if we publish your story; submissions may be edited for style. You…

My five-year-old niece, Kate, was excited to be in her uncle’s wedding, but also a bit jealous of all the attention the bride-to-be, Cynthia, was getting. While helping me set up for Cynthia’s shower, Kate noticed the lovely yellow flower bushes around the garden. “What are those flowers?” she asked. “Forsythia,” I said. Kate replied, “I should have known. Everything’s for Cynthia!”…

down-on-the-farm fun!

Puppies love “baby talk”! Most of us talk to our pooches like they’re babies—and according to a new study from Hunter College and City University of New York, puppies like it! Researchers discovered that young pups were more responsive to sweet, high-toned voices than normal human voices. The reason’s not clear, but experts say it may explain why so many of us coo at our mutts! Moving helps you make big changes! The easiest time to make a major life change is right after you move to a new home! When British researchers studied the habits of more than 800 people, they discovered that those who recently moved into a new place were best able to accomplish big goals —regardless of their attitudes or old habits! Researchers suspect that a change of scenery…

it happened this week!

• One of the most popular films of all time, Titanic, won 11 Oscars in 1998. One reason for its success was director James Cameron’s painstaking attention to detail, all the way down to the clock in the final scene. The time on it reads 2:20—exactly when the great ship sank! • Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor died at the age of 79 in 2011. In addition to acting, Taylor was an entrepreneur and the first celebrity to create her own perfume, Passion, in 1987. In the years after, 16 more fragrances were added to her collection with the most famous one—White Diamonds—still posting $200 million a year in sales! • Pharmacist John S. Pemberton created the first batch of the Coca-Cola soft drink in Atlanta in 1886. According to the company, the…
