SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17 HOMEMADE BREAD DAY Whip up toasty yum! It’s surprisingly easy to make your own bread bowl, says Jillian Wade of FoodFolksAndFun. net. Her secret? Start with frozen bread dough. To make her bread bowls: Thaw 1 lb. of dough in the fridge overnight. Shape into 3 equal balls; set on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with a beaten egg. Lightly grease plastic wrap and loosely cover the dough. Let rise in a warm place for 2 to 3 hours. Remove plastic; bake for 25 minutes at 350°F. When cool, cut the top off each “bowl” at a 45°-angle. Use your fingers to form a well, then fill with soup. Makes 3 bowls. JOKE OF THE WEEK Instructor: “Welcome to salsa class! After a long day, Jessica Rodriguez turned on her television and got ready to unwind with one of her favorite things: watching documentaries. Searching through available titles, one immediately caught her attention: a documentary called Miss You Can Do It, about Abbey Curran, the first woman with a disability to compete at the Miss USA Pageant. As an employee of Arc Broward, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for people with disabilities in her South Florida community, Jessica loved to learn more about the people who touched her life every day, and to see them living their dreams.
