Small Town Colorado Notes
This month I think we will visit some small towns further afield from the many East Coast towns we have examined over the past few months. Accordingly, we will visit a variety of national banks in east-central Colorado: Julesburg, Limon and Hugo. I hope you enjoy. Julesburg, our first town, is the seat of remote Sedgwick County, located in the far northeastern corner of the state, just west of the Nebraska border and easily accessed via Interstate Highways 76 and 80. Julesburg was established in 1859 as a trading post by Jules Beni, a French trader, and its strategic location on the Overland Trail made it an important stop for many heading west.
