Our AV-Holic this issue (p82) has very much the hybrid system – largescreen projection and immersive 3D audio rub shoulders with a two-channel setup featuring a turntable that costs more than my car. To say I'm envious would be an understatement. One of our dream theatres (p38) also brings a hi-fitwist to a home cinema, and I'm not surprised. I know many of us like to make the most of the money we've spent on an AV system by feeding it a diet of both movies and music, and it's only a short step from there to reading up about DACs and tonearms… But if music is the food of love, then movies are my bread and butter, and that's why the arrival of Godzilla vs. Kong on 4K Blu-ray (p92) has…

lg's qned rollout begins

LG has confirmed its UK mini LED TV range, dubbed QNED, will feature both 4K and 8K options, the latter including an 86in set that just happens to be one inch bigger than rival Samsung's top-flight mini LED model. Described by Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG's Home Entertainment Company, as an 'evolutionary leap forward', the brand's QNED models combine a locally dimmed mini LED backlight with a Quantum Dot NanoCell panel. Pushing the LCD envelope If LG seems more eager than usual to promote its LCD TV lineup – these sets traditionally play second fiddle to its OLEDs – it's because of the introduction of mini LED technology, which its says has enabled deeper blacks, higher brightness, and a more faithful colour reproduction than on its conventional LCD TVs. In the flagship 8K-resolution 86QNED99UPA,…
