Watercolouring for me was initially very daunting, but when I let go and just played, I started to love the effects I was getting. Once I had completed the background panels I thought it didn’t really need much else, so I decided to go with neutral stamping. I think the contrast between the bright watercoloured stripes and the grey stamping is very striking. Multi-layering stamp sets which many companies have released, really make the creating process so much simpler, you get wonderful results. Q&A WITH JANE Q. Can you please show hand steps on a simple way to create a pop-up please? A. Of course, here are a few pictures to show you how to add that little pop-up section inside your cards, little kids and even adults love a little surprise when opening they’re cards! Step 1 Fold your card in half and mark on the folded line the width of the piece you want popping up. Step 2 Draw 20mm lines on either side of these markings. Step 3 Cut along these lines using a scalpel. Step 4 Score between the cut ends of these lines using a scorer. Step 5 Fold the scored lines to create your pop-up section as shown. Sponging Inks Create a colourful pinwheel Kaleidoscope effect using your ink pads, it’s a bit fiddly but well worth the effort. Hello BY CINDY GILFILLAN Trim your bright colourful pages and place them on crisp white card so the colours and the design stand out. METHOD 1 Trim Woodlands Publishing ‘Relax and Colour’ floral page 50mm x 105mm that was coloured using Copic markers, add highlights to the flowers using a white gel pen then layer it on turquoise card leaving thin borders at the top and bottom. 2 Die-cut a My Favorite Things Faux Crochet Border from white card, add it to the back of the coloured piece at the bottom using glue. 3 Secure to the front of folded textured white card 305mm x 105mm at the top using double-sided tape. 4 Die-cut three Clearly Besotted Stamps ‘hello’ from white card, glue them together and add it to the floral piece in the bottom right-hand side.
