Did you know that there are one million more women eligible to vote in the UK than men? It’s not some competition we’ve won – it’s just the numbers. But it does mean that what we think really counts, and when it comes to the Brexit referendum on 23 June, well, you get the picture… So why does it feel like the entire In or Out campaign so far has been men point-scoring off each other? In a brilliant piece on page 44, Caroline Criado-Perez looks at what it really means for us . As we head towards festival season, California’s Coachella always leads the way, whether it’s with the goss – Rihanna and Leo’s wild reunion on page 29 or Taylor’s dramatic rebrand (masterminded by her mum) on page 12…

it’s brand new taylor

RARELY HAS A NEW haircut had such an impact, but then Taylor Swift isn’t one to do things by halves. Last week, making her debut appearance at Coachella to support her boyfriend, DJ Calvin Harris, the singer showed off a new platinum ’do. And in so doing, became one of the biggest talking points of the festival. Even the most casual observer of the 26-year-old couldn’t fail to notice Taylor’s impact at the star-studded festival. Sporting a red lip in classic Taylor fashion, the singer seemed to be sending a message to the world: she may have just announced she wants to take some time off from music but she has no intention of disappearing from our radars. Rather, she’s rebranded. And it’s all part of an apparent effort to shake…

1 find your festival style tribe

IT IS WITH A SLIGHT sinking feeling that we greet festival season, that time of year when normally well-dressed women don flower crowns and Lycra onesies (we're speaking from personal experience, sadly). To nail festival style - without losing your own - start by identifying your tribe. Legs up to here and an LA tan call for the ultimate Coachella capsule - cue fringing, studding and micro shorts. For a hedonistic island knees-up, meet the party girl's answer to punk - skinny jeans, sneakers and a sequinned sports jersey. Staying closer to home? Think Earth, Wind & Fire - as in, you'll be covered in muddy earth, and sheltering from the wind round a campfire, so play it safe with layers. Channel Chloë Sevigny in a grunge slip over a…

2 there was only one prince

PRINCE IS DEAD. Another legend gone. In a music world still reeling from the death of David Bowie, the sudden loss of Prince, 57, could not be more devastating. In an era where true artists have been trumped by reality stars flooding our screens and social media with endless coverage of their daily lives, it’s impossible to underestimate the impact of his death. The singer died after he collapsed in a lift at his Paisley Park complex in Minneapolis last Thursday morning. Rumours of a drug overdose emerged within hours of his passing, after one assistant claimed he had been given a ‘save shot’ six days before his death after collapsing on his private plane. Others speculated the cause of death related to a seizure due to his childhood epilepsy. Some wondered…
