“ Let’s have a picnic lunch,” said Mom. “Hooray,” said Jaden. Jaden packed a sandwich, chips, an apple, and a cookie into his lunchbox. He rode his bike to the park. Mom walked behind him. Jaden ate most of his sandwich, most of his chips, and most of the apple. He put the cookie into his pocket for later. “I ate my whole lunch!” said Jaden. “Good,” said Mom. Jaden ran to the swings. xander and the slide

Xander felt his face grow warm as his friends passed him. One after another, they climbed to the top of the slide. It looked so high. He counted the steps. There were ten of them. That was a lot of steps. His friend Ellie scrambled up. “Wheee!” she shouted as she easily slid down. Mark was next. “Whooo!” “Go on, Xander,” Ellie urged him. “It’s fun!” Xander shook his head.
