max and kate

One morning, after a stormy night at Aunt Sue’s house, Max, Kate, and Charlie hear a honking sound. They find a tired wild goose in the orchard. Aunt Sue tells them that the goose probably needed a rest. “Flocks of geese fly south in the fall to avoid the colder weather,” she says. “I hope Goosie hasn’t lost his friends!” Kate says. Max and Kate toss a little bit of Aunt Sue’s bird seed to the tired goose. The next morning, they hurry to the orchard. bear’s holiday cards

At the post office, Bear mailed many holiday cards. Then he hurried back to his house. He put two extra blankets on his bed. After he ate dinner, Bear went to sleep for the winter. They showed pictures of snow, sleds, mittens, and cups of cocoa. Smiling, Bear put the cards on the mantelpiece of his fireplace.…

The honeybees know,Huddling and murmuring in their hives. The raccoons know, Nestling in hollow logs.Winter is on its way.
