Welcome to the latest issue of Macworld, the only guide you need to the wonderful world of all things Apple. The tech giant held its highly anticipated event on 21 March, and while there were few surprises there was still plenty to keep us happy. One device that grabbed our attention was the iPhone SE – the company’s first 4in handset since the 5s back in 2013. It’s a smart-looking and intelligently designed handset, though some may be disappointed by how closely it resembles the 5s. We take our first look on page 4. This is the first smartphone with a 4in screen that Apple has launched since 2013’s iPhone 5s and 5c. The SE has a design almost identical to the 5s, but its internals match those of the 6s; it’s therefore much faster than its 4in predecessor and, Apple claims, will have a far superior battery life, although we will need to test these claims in our labs. It comes with Apple’s A9X processor, a 9.7in (2048x1536) Retina display and a 12Mp iSight camera. The new iPad is available in four different colours (Silver, Gold, Space Grey and Rose Gold), and three storage capacities (32-, 128- and 256GB). Free • apple.com/uk Although it was the new iPhone SE and 9.7in iPad Pro that grabbed the headlines at Apple’s recent event, the company used the occasion to launch its latest update to iOS 9 – 9.3. To get the latest software, simply open the Settings app, tap General > Software update and install the iOS 9.3 update. Apple first announced the latest iteration of its iOS operating system via its own website, iOS 9.3, back in February and promised a handful of features that users have been longing for, for quite some time. These include a ‘Night Shift’ mode that’ll adjust colours based on the time of day (and location of the device), producing colours warmer in the evening to combat the issue of blue light affecting your circadian…

Free • apple.com/uk Apple has released watchOS 2.2, an update to the operating system for Apple Watch. The update includes new features and bug fixes. These include: Adds support for pairing multiple Apple Watches to one iPhone Adds Nearby in Maps to browse for places around you by category, including Food and Shopping Increases frequency of background heart-rate measurements when you are stationary Installation requires iOS 9.3 on your iPhone. When installing a watch update, your watch has to be in range of your iPhone, connected to its charger, and charged to 50 percent of battery life. Smart Keyboard for 9.7in iPad Pro Price: £129 A shrunken iPad Pro means shrunken iPad Pro accessories: Apple’s Smart Keyboard (pictured above) is now available to fit the new tablet. It costs a little bit less – £129 for the 9.7in model, compared to £139 for the 12.9in Pro – but the functionality is the same, with its Smart Connector power port and Bluetooth-less data connection. The larger keyboard is comfortable to type on, and we hope the smaller one doesn’t feel cramped, although we generally only have that problem with keyboards sized for the 7in iPad mini.
