IT’S TRUE THAT WORDS LIKE GLOBAL warming and climate change have become common in our daily lives and yet we don’t really understand what a 3ºC increase in global temperature means. A recent Popular Science article drives home the impact of global warming with something that hopefully most people can better understand. It reports on a study done by an ecologist from the University of Maryland and his coauthors based on analog modelling for 540 cities in America, to show what the climate will look like in these cities in about 60 years. The result is pretty damning, as they found there will be significant changes in the climate in many of the cities.
