essence of style

Last March we rolled out an unprecedented list of Tatler’s New Asia portfolio which featured 117 changemakers across the region. It was our way of sending out the message that Tatler is not just a magazine but a thriving and growing community of people from different cultural, geographical and professional backgrounds who embody the three core pillars of modern social currency: power, influence and style. For October, we return once again with a brand new list of Asia’s Most Stylish, or AMS for short. If anyone remembers, previously AMS featured eight stylish women who were selected by Tatler editors in their individual territories to take part in a regional spread which was shot in glamorous locations. It was also a wonderful way to celebrate those who were having their birthdays that month and in August, namely Datin Sri Eannes Chop, her husband Dato’ Sri Louis Shim, and Valerie Ong. Jenn Low, whose own birthday was coming up in September, commented, “We chose Langkawi to support local tourism, as well as soak in the beauty that the beaches in our very own backyard has to offer.” Being like-minded with similar interests, the group had a blast being in each other’s company. Eannes enthused, “Everyone loves to eat, drink and have a good time, which is a must!” Valerie fully agreed with…

planning a holiday

Jenn: “I always have my go-to packing list on hand, so I am able to pack quickly under an hour, and not miss out on things. I also find exploring the location geo-tag on Instagram a really awesome tool, as you get to see real-life pictures from other travellers or locals in an instant.” Valerie: “Researching for the best accommodation has always been my top priority. If things don’t go as planned, at least I have a nice, clean room and bed to happily snuggle in all night long. I also love trying new restaurants, and learning more about new wines, especially from other regions or countries.” Eannes: “I like doing research on the best spots for everything, from the nicest and most strategically located hotel, to the best shopping and food…
