welcome to the december edition of scootering

That’s it then… the national rallies are all done, and wasn’t Brid a belter! Check out our seven-page special report for all the details. On the journey back home my mind was already turning towards the piles of sandblasted components from my GP125 which are sitting in my garage and begging to be sprayed over winter. Iguess it was the sight of all those lush machines in the custom show which inspired me. However, Imust point out that I’m planning a rattle can job which will clearly not be in the league of the machines which were on display – but it will just be nice to get the Lambretta done and back together. Also in this issue, we sent Stan north of the border to check out Piaggio dealer Go…

rinaldi racer

Situated on the outskirts of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Rinaldi’s is an Italian restaurant with a theme. Yes that theme’s scooters, but these aren’t cheap Far Eastern machines bought off the internet. These are top end British restorations specially commissioned for the restaurant. Owner Glyn Musgrave isn’t a scooterist as in his spare time he prefers to race a Yamaha R1. However, he is genuinely enthusiastic about anything with a petrol engine and particularly the three scooters on display. “When I bought the restaurant it was unbelievably dull,” he said. “We ripped out a lot of the decor, started with a standard Series 3 and added a ‘Mod’ LI Special. Star of the show is our SX racer.” Restored locally, the SX 150 is 70s themed in two tone bronze metallic with an…

doughboys sc charity calander

After a number of years raising money for a variety of charities, a few of the ladies from Doughboys Scooter Club would like to announce the availability of their 2017 calendar! The chosen charity for this year is the Alzheimer’s Society. Lisa Kightley came up with the idea of doing a ‘calendar girls’ style calendar for 2017 so after a long pause and some nervous laughter, the process began and the date was set for the photo shoot. Some of the ladies braved the wind and rain of ‘Storm Katy’ to bring the scooters to the venue, and the rest, as they say, is now history. If you would like to support this worthwhile charity and purchase one of the calendars, contact Lisa Kightley via the the Doughboys Facebook page…
