Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death this week hit hard. Like millions around the world, I found him awe-inspiring in all he did – on-screen and off. Knowing now that he filmed a series of movies, including the award-winning Marvel flick Black Panther, while secretly battling colon cancer – he was diagnosed in 2016 – is testament to his strength. But his actions off-screen are what makes him a true hero (page 8). A few months before Boseman passed, he married the love of his life, long-time girlfriend Taylor Simone Ledward – something that no doubt brought him immeasurable joy. Our thoughts are with her, his family and friends during this difficult time. His legacy will live on forever. This issue, we also celebrate another epic love story. It’s been 20 years since Mary,…

and the winners are …

The MTV Video Music Awards looked very different this year – with no audience, different parts of the ceremony spread out over New York and virtual acceptance speeches aplenty – but there was still plenty of glitz and glamour! Miley Cyrus sparkled in a daring sheer dress, before taking to the stage to sing her new song ‘Midnight Sky’ with a very ‘Wrecking Ball’-reminiscent performance. The 27-year-old was among a host of stellar artists, with the Black Eyed Peas, The Weeknd, Maluma and CNCO also performing for viewers. Lady Gaga scored big on the night, taking home five awards and also putting on an amazing display with Ariana Grande, with the pair belting out their recent collaborative hit ‘Rain on Me’. And in regular Gaga fashion, the singer also won in the…

‘he lived a beautiful life’

The final tweet shared to actor Chadwick Boseman’s Twitter account was posted late in the evening on August 28 (US time). “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” it announced. “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV … He died in his home with his wife and family by his side.” As the world reeled in shock and rushed to pay him tribute, the tweet soon broke records as the most liked post in the history of the platform. Boseman, who died aged 43, leaves behind long-time love Taylor Simone Ledward, whom he secretly married before his passing. The pair were first spotted together in 2015 and he…

brad’s holiday romance

Boarding a private jet bound for the South of France at Le Bourget Airport near Paris, Brad Pitt was unfazed to be seen with his travelling partner, German model Nicole Poturalski. “They were kissing and Brad was being super attentive to her,” a source told US OK! magazine. “He was in a semi-public place but didn’t seem to mind people seeing him.” Pitt, 56, has been casually dating on the down low since he split from wife Angelina Jolie, 45, in September 2016. This romantic getaway with Poturalski – and public displays of affection – seems to point to a more serious connection. “They’re spending some time together on vacation and are enjoying each other’s company while travelling,” a source tells WHO’s sister publication People magazine, confirming their relationship. Not that everything is…
