FROM MILAN TO COVENTRY
It’s been said before in motoring circles (and long before Clarkson repeated it) that everyone should own an Alfa Romeo at least once, but lately I’ve been thinking that everyone should in fact own a Jaguar at least once. Stop and think about it and the two brands have more similarities than might immediately be obvious: both were built on style and performance and both endured periods of nationalisation, while both brands even had their share of controversial platform sharing ventures: if you need a parallel to the the Mondeo-based X-Type, then what about the Nissan Cherry-derived Arna? Both were in fact far better products than their detractors will tell you, although good luck tracking down an Arna if you want to find out for yourself. Both brands are also facing uncertain…
