back to the future with softube model 84

Inspired by Roland‘s Juno classic from the 80s, the Swedish software company Softube claims to have created an authentic emulation with the Model 84 synthesizer. With this six-voice synthesizer, which shaped the sound of the 80s, the virtual circuit modeling is said to have taken place on the component level true to the original. Even the quirks and non-linearities of the original 1984 model were recreated, as were the factory presets used in many number one hits of the time. But contemporary artist presets have also been newly added, as well as expanded velocity and aftertouch support, and an expanded unison mode. In addition to the DCO and sub-oscillator, there is also a noise generator, like in the original, as well as low-pass filter, LFO, equalizer and an envelope. Model…

small but fat - desktop synthesizer from modal electronics

The SKULPT is back! Modal Electronics launches with the SKULPTsynth SE, a new portable synthesizer edition with a new look in white housing and gray user interface. The keyboard has been adapted to the familiar color scheme of a piano keyboard. The sound generation of the compact device is composed of 32 oscillators, which can be divided into two WAVE groups and up to eight oscillators per voice. The morphable waveforms Sine, Triangle, Saw, Square and PWM, as well as a unison tuning for up to 32 oscillators, together with the FM and Ring Modulation, should provide fat sounds. Other features include three envelopes, two LFOs and an analog-sounding filter with resonance. For modulation purposes, there are eight slots in the matrix. Last but not least, an arpeggiator and sequencer…

flexible modular system for sound designers from aas

A playground for sound exploration is provided by the Multiphonics CV-1 modular system plugin from Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS). Thanks to virtual patch cables, nothing stands in the way of extensive tinkering fun with experimental, innovative sounds and soundscapes for sound designers. From the Gate CV Sequencer to the classic VCO and Noise module, to the Mixer, Dual Delay and the ADSR Envelope, the individual modules can be combined to create a complete synthesizer. They are sometimes based on the manufacturer‘s own plug-ins, such as the Objeq Filter. The sound library, which was fabricated by first-class sound designers, is peppered with basses, chords, drones, leads, percussions and rhythmic sequences, among other things. Work steps can be corrected indefinitely with Undo/Redo. In addition, there is access to MIDI control and expression…
