THIS MONTH’S WINNER Marg Adams, from Carseldine, Qld, for her Bouncing Bunnies project: “Eloise, designed by Fiona Tully for the May 2017 (Vol 18 No 5) issue of Homespun, was made as a birthday gift for a friend’s little granddaughter. I made her out of calico, rather than wool felt, added a few extra highlights on the basket and embroidered the recipient’s name on the back. I think she looks gorgeous. This project gave me such joy in the making. I worked on Albert next and have had requests to make more for family and friends. I buy your magazine every month and would like to say thank you to the talented artisans who contribute.” Congratulations to Marg for her great effort. As the winner this month, she will be receiving the following…

Patches of Blue by Edyta Sitar, US$24.99 The latest book from Edyta Sitar, of Laundry Basket Quilts, is another winner. It’s a collection of 17 new projects in her inimitable style, this time featuring two-colour scrap quilts. They range in size from table runners up to full-size/double-bed quilts. Detailed instructions are provided, illustrated with close-up photographs and lots of excellent diagrams. Edyta tends not to design ‘quick and easy’ projects – there’s quite a deal of work in most of these quilts. However, only a small number require advanced quilt-making skills and, as many of them are block-based, it’s straightforward to change their size: simply make more or fewer blocks. Choose patchwork or appliqué or combine them – you’ll find a good mix of styles here. And enjoy the eye candy…

Email: kat.had@bigpond.com Blog: katrinahadjimichael.blogspot.com COLOURS OF KATRINA “My favourite colour for quilts is red. I use many different reds, from soft pinky shades to rich dark tones. I also use a lot of brown, as I think it makes all the other colours ‘sing’. Red, mustard, green, blue and purple all look great with brown. Lots of prints in different scales are also a signature of mine. They help me achieve a soft ‘tapestry’ look to my quilts.” CRAFTY CALLISTHENICS “My tiny work space is very cluttered, with all sorts of sewing stuff. Sometimes, I have to shimmy sideways to get to the sewing machine.” QUALITY & QUANTITY “I’ve made about 200 quilts. I have piles of them in cupboards and on furniture around the house, and my mother is storing lots of them for me, as…
