endless inspiration, plus a few new faces

It’s hard to believe there was a time when I’d hear the word “herringbone” and think of a snappy wool blazer instead of a sparkly beaded bracelet. But yes, it’s true: I was once clueless about beads, beadwork, and bead stitching. Thanks in large part to Bead&Button magazine, and motivated by a lifelong love of jewelry artistry, that’s all in the past. I’m now blissfully in the know yet consistently challenged by what I don’t know. I’m endlessly inspired by every issue and every update to FacetJewelry.com. With each story, project, pattern and product, the Bead&Button team strives to embrace the tried-and-true we all love while exploring the untried-and-new. That’s what keeps life interesting, right? We’re changing things up in this space, too. Longtime readers will know I’m not the usual face…

online ordering dilemma

“I made a string of 11o̠ seed bead samples each ten beads wide and one inch long with a loop on top.”Q I live several hours away from the nearest bead store so must order my beads online. My problem is that between the color names used for beads and the distortion of color images on my monitor, it is difficult to be certain I am ordering the color I need. Often I end up with colors I can’t use or don’t like and have wasted my money. Any advice?A You have my sympathy. I once needed a few yellow drops to finish a project. Should I choose lemon yellow? Canary yellow? Dandelion yellow? Light beige? Like beauty, color is in the eye of the beholder. I’m now the owner…
