DERRY MOORE Photographer Derry Moore began his career as a photographer in 1971, as a pupil of the acclaimed German photojournalist Bill Brandt. Prior to that, Derry attended Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka’s School of Seeing in Salzburg, which he credits with giving him the skills to flourish under Brandt’s tutorage. Derry’s work has appeared in numerous publications, including Architectural Digest, Vogue and Town & Country. For this month’s House & Garden, he shot his friend David Mlinaric’s house in Croatia (on pages 100-105). The streets near London’s Victoria station were once associated with budget hotels, but the area has been subject to ongoing transformation over the past few years. One cool new design destination is Eccleston Yards, a creative initiative by Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, which launched last year, providing 19 units for independent businesses on previously derelict land. Clustered round a central courtyard, the buildings spread across 80,000 square feet and have been sensitively reinvigorated by the architects BuckleyGrayYeoman. Lucy Carr-Ellison and Jemima Jones, the pair behind catering company Tart London, opened their first permanent space here last year – Wild by Tart – in a former power station and coal store. So far they have an events space and a deli, but there are plans to expand into another unit and open…
