welcome

What I love most about Apple’s operating systems is that they are a never-ending voyage of discovery. Sure, the best new features are showcased at the annual WWDC events, but you’re never told everything and so have to probe, click or tap under your own steam to find out the little intricacies that can greatly enhance the way you use and interact with your devices.I’ll never forget, when using QuarkXpress back in the early 90s, discovering a very neat shortcut that made a little Martian sprite amble onto the screen and dissolve unwanted furniture from the page using his ray-gun. This tip was then passed on to others to enjoy via clandestine word of mouth, traded with other snippets of insider knowledge until I felt like I knew Macs…

is apple still the tech leader on privacy?

Take Cambridge Analytica, Facebook and the storm surrounding election results, or one of the hundreds of hacks and breaches that make the news every day. The concerns we all have about our online footprint are very real, but if there’s one company that’s a beacon of light in this field it is Apple under Tim Cook. Protecting your privacyIn January 2019 when the majority of Apple’s contemporaries were housed up in Las…

ultimate macos & ios secrets

However well you think you know your way around a Mac or iPhone, there are always ways to speed up your productivity. For example, iOS 12 introduced us to Shortcuts, an app that can be used to automate specific tasks on your device. This is like a simplified version of Automator on your Mac that allows you to utilise the built-in actions of your Mac to create complex workflows, speeding up those repetitive tasks that sap your time and allowing you to get on with other, more pressing matters. Both apps should be explored fully to see how they can aid the tasks that you perform regularly. Then there are the keyboard and touch shortcuts. Your Mac comes with a vast arsenal of keyboard shortcuts to eradicate the need…
