Travelling has always been one of my favourite things to do. Whether it’s a day-long (and these days increasingly expensive) flight to a far country or a road trip through the Karoo, travel makes me happy. It’s the anticipation beforehand (apparently for many people the best part), the planning, the packing, the journey and the destination – everything forms part of a package that simply makes my heart sing. If I can travel for an exciting reason – even better. And so I headed off to Germany in the middle of February, with layers of clothes on hand to help me transition from the Cape summer into the European winter.
