bmw expands r 18 family

BMW Motorrad have added two new variants to their R 18 cruiser range – the R 18 B bagger and R 18 Transcontinental tourer – both of which bring specific features and distinctive styling, as well as a hefty increase in pricing over the base model. The bagger styling of the B and full dresser tourer fitout of the Transcontinental may be more niche than last year’s launch model R 18, but they’re also targeted more specifically at existing rivals in the market, mainly Harley-Davidson products. Consider the Road Glide/Street Glide as a rival for the R 18 B and Ultra Limited as the rival for the R 18 Transcontinental. In Indian terms, we’re talking Chieftain and Roadmaster as rivals. CARRYOVER BOXER The ‘Big Boxer’ 1800cc twin remains unchanged for the new R…

ktm 50 sx factory edition coming soon

KTM Australia has announced details on the 2022 version of the 50 SX Factory Edition, with the entry-level motocross machine due for local release in September. Based on the platform introduced last year, the MY22 50 SX Factory Edition uses some of the same premium componentry as KTM’s larger motocross machines, including an FMF exhaust system, Dunlop Geomax tyres and CNC machined aluminium clutch and ignition covers. Defining the Factory Edition against a regular 50 SX are special Factory Edition graphics, grey grips and a gripper seat in blue. The engine is the same liquid-cooled 49cc single-cylinder 2-stroke, but features reworked jetting, which is combined with a smaller rear sprocket to improve acceleration and top speed. The FMF exhaust includes a Fatty pipe and Powercore 2 silencer that optimises low to mid-range power. In…

troy bayliss honoured with special edition ducati panigale v2

Ducati’s high regard for three-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss has been expressed with the creation of a special edition Panigale V2. While it’s not due for Australian release until early next year, the tribute bike has been launched now, as 2021 marks twenty years since Bayliss achieved his first WSBK championship for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. Dubbed the ‘Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary,’ the special edition Panigale V2 is finished in the style of the 996 R that Bayliss rode to championship glory in 2001. CHAMPIONSHIP STYLE Bayliss is said to have actively contributed to the livery for the special edition created by Centro Stile Ducati, which includes graphics inspired by the 996 R. Ducati Red as the main colour, of course, but this is accented with green and white in a…
