welcome…

to the seventh issue of Walnut. At long last, it’s finally spring, after what has felt like a very long, very wet and very windy winter. This edition is a little different from our previous ones. We have never before considered publishing a digital issue of Walnut until printed copies have sold out, it’s always been a printed magazine through and through. But we could also never have envisaged, while planning and creating this issue, that at the time of release we would be living through such unprecedented social change caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a small business that relies on retail outlets and the postal service, we were forced to think long and hard about the best way to deliver this latest issue to you while shops are closed…

conscious connection

The human energy field is a fascinating, interconnected system made up of myriad patterns, and although every individual is totally unique in their own exquisite energy, there are certain energetic patterns that are vital to health and can be found in every energy field, no matter what shape, size, race, gender or any other category you want to mention. I have been able to see energy since I was born. Over the years, I have observed that everyone has energy patterns for optimum health and vitality. When you are stressed, tired, overwhelmed or shocked, however, I see these patterns change into emergency response reactions, shifting rapidly to help you adapt to the situation. When the stressor is removed, and if you get a healing night’s sleep, then your healthy energy patterns…

spring cleaning

I’ve just returned from an invigorating nature walk feeling buoyant and uplifted by the emerging signs of spring. I love being out in nature at this time of the year when the earth feels so full of possibility, while still holding a graceful calm. During this magical in-between time I look for two favourite herbs that for me, above all others, signify the beginning of spring – stinging nettles (Urtica dioica) and cleavers (Gallium aparine), also known as goosegrass and sticky-willy. Often found together along roadsides, hedges and sheltered spots, these two herbal companions have an ‘opposites attract’ kind of relationship, with the fluid flowiness of cleavers depending on the strength, stability and uprightness of the nettles. The unique characteristics and virtues of both herbs make them ideal spring cleansers and…

ALL NATURAL SOAP CO. All Natural Soap Co. is a multi-award-winning, artisan producer of truly natural soap. You’ll also find special seasonal soap varieties popping up at times of change throughout the year. The products have taken years to perfect, and are created with environmental consciousness ensuring that they are totally biodegradable, minimally packaged, palm oil free, cruelty free and 100% vegetarian (mostly vegan). In addition, neither the soap bars, or their ingredients are…
