The first Land Rover trip I ever did as a journalist was in a standard D2 to the coast of Mozambique. That was nearly 20 years ago. It had no snorkel, bull bar, recovery gear, rock sliders or other accessories. Just a cool box and a passport got me there and back, no worries. Most of that trip was tar road and some sandy tracks. Would I take a similar Disco on more remote and technical tracks? Probably not. And if my partner and son were with me? Definitely not.
