‘Have you noticed how, recently, there’s a glut of TV time being taken up with the “campervan crowd”?
Mostly, I guess, as a result of people not being allowed to go abroad and the shortage of UK holiday accommodation, so many have discovered the joy and freedom of being on the road and getting intimate with their nearest and dearest.
Some, though, are taking it further and giving up bricks and mortar and buying old vehicles – lorries, fire engines, buses, barges, caravans or even containers – doing them up and living in them. This lot are my latest inspiration because, although they’re living in tiny spaces, they’re answerable to no one as they’re effectively “off-grid”, which really appeals to me.
Just think. No council tax, no rent, no mortgage,…
