Let’s face it, Joan Collins is a study in growing old glamorously. Writing recently with searing honesty, the British acting icon delved into exactly why caring about how you look is something we all need to simply lose the ‘guilt’ over.
Admitting she doesn’t look ‘this good without being vain’, Joan – who will, astonishingly, be 90 this May – said, ‘It keeps you healthy, makes you feel better, and you get compliments, which is great for your mental health.’
Using the analogy of a car, which owners will wash, wax and polish, Joan added, ‘Treat it well and it should last a lifetime, become a classic, and be shown off at car shows. You’d be proud of it.’
