Kampala: Uganda is investigating claims that a former senior ICC official was involved in funding the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army LRA), the country’s attorney general said. Brigid Inder, a special adviser on gender to the former International Criminal Court prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, denied the claims on X.
A lawyer for former LRA child soldiers said, “numerous victims have alleged that between 2006 and 2017, Ms Inder … financed Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army”.
Kony, still at large, staged a rebellion more than three decades ago, killing more than 100 000 people. Inder was involved in peace talks. In 2005, the ICC accused Kony of war crimes. | AFP…
