THE FERTILITY FRONTIER Egg freezing is a brilliant business model with high margins and high demand for the companies involved (10 Hot Stories, 22 February). As women delay motherhood, it’s being hailed as a solution. And yet a 2.5% success rate is so minimal for the vast cost. I’m 4½ months pregnant, and I can tell you it’s hard enough to conceive at 32, never mind 40 or 50. When you’re older, the chance of miscarriage is also much higher, as are complications. Rather than looking to egg freezing, we should be campaigning for more flexible working practices and better treatment of women returning to work. This would allow women to become mothers earlier.
